Newbie Question (don't laff)
OK, the manual says the Security Wheel Nut "specially coded socket" is located "in the spare wheel". I presume this means with the tool kit (which on this newly acquired car appear to have never been touched by human hands).
However, don't see the phantom socket or even a pocket in the tool pouch for one. So, (I told you not to laugh) where do I find it?
Does this mean a trip to the dealer with the VIN/title?
Thanx, again!

Sounds like it is time for a trip to the dealer with your 993. I lost my key a while ago and the dealer solved the problem for about $30. They have a kit of 30 or so coded keys with which they can find your key lock number. They will probably have to order it, which can take up to a week.

The socket should be in the tool kit.
I didn't get a socket when I bought my car, but the problem wasn't too big since there were only four lug nuts on each wheel. Apparently someone came across the same problem you are having.
If you don't have any paperwork to tell you which "key" should fit your lug nuts, then I *believe* that Jim Ellis will have a full set and be able to help you figure out the one to order. Since I'm not sure on that point you may want to call ahead to make sure they can help you out.

Maybe this is a silly question, but did you go over every pocket and tool in the kit? If I remember correctly, the socket was fitted over another tool and very easily missed in a casual search.

Forget what the "new" owner's manual says - your's is a used, ... er preowned car, right? Look in the trunk pocket/glove box - common locations for the socket or better yet why not just call the seller? If a dealer, it should pop for the socket & if an individual, maybe it's in his/her tool chest.

With the renewed enthusiasm resulting from your thoughtful suggestions, I returned to the garage to continue my "easter egg hunt" through every crook and cranny, and, lo-and-behold, there it was, lurking in the passenger door glove box! Guess the seller wasn't completely irresponsible (he had no clue - "the shop did it").
Thanks to all for the inspiration!

You see, Rennlist had already saved you $30! Now this means you have to spend a little more than half of that and become a member!
I am glad you found the socket!
