I'm not saying your should blow $700 on OEM exhaust tips, I'm just sceptical that $100 can buy a quality replacement. I'd love to be proven wrong though!
Martin, these tips are fine. I purchased a set and the quality is excellent

Ted, those do actually look quite good. I'd be interested in seeing how they follow the curve of the bumper. Do you have any pics from that angle on your car?

Also, these won't fit my C2S.

My '95 came with the weird little eye-shaped exhaust tips. I didn't like them at all so I found set a of the regular D-shaped tips that came on later 993's for sale here and had them powder-coated matte black. I prefer them to any other tips I've seen. Just another option.

OK, when I said 100%, I meant I am 100% sure the note changed, not 100% difference in note, sorry for the confusion....

The cheaper tips are not slash cut to follow the bumper and look poor IMHO compared to slash cut tips

Ted, those are the ones I was leaning towards. If you could post some pics from the top of the bumper looking down , side of bumper, and behind the car....I would really appreciate it!

I see you're having a hard time believing that wide tips can make a difference to the exhaust note... But they do! Or they did when I installed them on my car (and others as well, aparently). The sound is not like going to FD stage 3's by any means but it is noticeable. No reason to make this $hit up! I had been running the tiny eye-shaped stock tips and the sound box air filter cover for 3 years! Put the wide ovals on ENTIRELY for the LOOK, I was not expecting the sound to be different... But it is.
FYI, the tips I received from FD were angle cut and did not have the rolled lip like the eBay ones!

I have these tips as well and have been very happy with them over the past 7 years. To each their own, but I'm not gonna pay several hundred dollars for exhaust tips.

Yeah 700 bucks for some bling on a tail pipe is a little out of line- I am willing to chance the 100 dollar option first

These look pretty good. Anyone have a pic on a car? Do they look more oem than the ebay ones?
