Default Ebay exhaust tips?

Has anyone purchased and installed the big exhaust tips that are offered on ebay? One seller has them listed for $77.89 and another for $99 for the pair. What is the fit and quality like?

I can't imagine that for $100 they would be of a quality befitting our cars...

I just feel strange, why the Porsche tips are so expensive, for the same price you can buy a muffler for other brand car. Apart from the look, what is the benefit of an exhaust tip?

I first bought a set of the Dansk Tips for around $250 from an Ebay dealer. When they arrived the first think I noticed was the made in Taiwan sticker and how they looked surprisingly similar to the $70 tips also on Ebay, I sent the Dansk back, ordered the $70 tips and when they arrived they appear identical, even have the same manufacturing marks. I think they are a good deal for $70 and the quality appears OK. Soon after I was able to find a set of OEM Wide Ovals on Ebay for a $105 bucks (no kidding) and the $70 tips are sitting in a box unused.

I purchased a pair a few years ago from ebay, not this seller, for less than 100 bucks and they were very nicely made. Heavy guage metal and nicely plated. As long as they accept returns you may only be out 6-8 bucks for return shipping if you don't like them.

^^ +1 purchased a set back in 2012 (paid $65.00) wasn't expecting much but I was surprised at the quality and fit and finish. Easy install and exact fit. I just personally refuse to pay the stupid money for the Dansk / Porsche options.

When I replaced my stock small tips with wide ovals I received from FD, I noticed (and still do) a deeper, throaty exhaust tone at idle. I'm running full stock exhaust with oem sound box air filter cover. It's subtle but definitely there.

There was a Rennlist group buy about 8 years ago - they cost about $50 including shipping to UK - and they still look like new. The guy used to advertise on Ebay....

I bought a set on Ebay from corvetteguy(?), who I believe made them himself, a few years ago for $50, as did several on this forum. The tips were good quality for the price, but some people who bought after me reported poorer quality and workmanship. I suspect the seller couldn't handle the increased volume.
