Supercups and da wife!
So today she's out back sweeping the patio, tending to her flowers etc.. Since I have a few minutes of 'me' time, and I haven't driven the car in months, I decided to take it for a spin around the neighborhood. Well on my return she was waiting for me in the driveway. She said, r u crazy, that exhaust should be illegal, why you want to wake the hood up, u know its mostly old folks living in here, I bet if a cop saw you he'll pull you over, and on and on....I haven't seen her this pissed in a long time. I think this was the first time she really heard it. She went to say I see porsches all the time, they don't sound like that, why yours had to be so loud, you're not a kid, that's irritating as hell,...etc... I left out some of the adjectives she used. Think I'll be going back to LPMM for a bit if I ever get back to driving more often.

Ha ha! I had a set of stage II's on a red '97 C2 I owned a few years ago. Had the same reaction from my wife. After I sold it one of my neighbors stopped in when I picked up my current '98 C4S with stock exhaust. He thought it was nice but didn't come close to the sound quality of the red one. Guess exhaust notes are like classical music....just not for everyone's ear

I used to have a Carrera with straight pipes and no cats ... it would rattle the dishes in the kitchen every time I pulled into the garage

I get that from the other half all of the time. Just have to remind her the "quiet" Porsches are owned by dentist or lawyers.
Tell her I just listened to yours and it's about half as loud as my car. Maybe that'll smooth her over. Good luck with that :-)

I got rid of them also! They are great for the track, but the droning on the road is a bit too much. I went to cat delete and 2" LPMM. It's a raspier, race car sound. Kind of a snarl without the bass notes. Best of all, with the windows up on the highway, I hardly notice it's not stock.
My wife however, still will not drive the car.

My car came with Fabspeed Maxflows when I bought it. They droned on the highway but not only that - loud at idle. I leave for work at just before six in the morning when the neighborhood is nice and quiet. I get along with all my neighbors very nicely and want to keep it that way.
I personally didn't like the Maxflows, and, at six AM, I can't imagine the neighbors appreciated them either. So, off they came and stock mufflers installed. Perhaps I'm getting old but I've had my fill of loud cars.

Sounds like you both need a set of ear plugs....

The Supercups appeal to a very specific owner, those who love them, LOVE them. Those who hate them.. well.. they probably opt for the Maxflos or for stock! In any event, even a silent 993 is better than a loud 996! (I actually really like the 996 cars but don't tell the 996 guys I said that)

lol.. I've had them on for maybe over 2 years now, but she's been mostly in the car, or in the house with the windows shut when I'm driving. I took my 7th grader to school last year, and waiting in the car pool line was not fun. I could feel the stares from the soccer moms with their lululemon yoga pants and designer sunglasses sitting in their SUVS. He would oftens ask when next I'll be dropping him off, and I'll respond the the big *ss speedbums ain't fun driving over. Next week is the last week of school, so maybe I'll do just that before retiring them..lol..
