Default Converting my 1995 Porsche C4 Cab To A Turbo

Hi there, I'm thinking of converting my car, any pitfalls of heads up I should know about?

Hmmm......where else did we see similar recently? https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...onversion.html

(But everyone has to understand that this has been going on for nearly 40 years with whatever generation of these cars.)

1. Sell 993 C4 cab
2. Buy 993 Turbo

Boom, done.

But then it is not a cab. Though I am certainly not a fan of butchering these cars, this is one I wouldn't mind.

Why not supercharge the engine and regear the tranny with that budget? It will end up cheaper than a turbo and still recoup $0.50 to the dollar should you decide to go back to stock.

Because then you cannot put a Turbo badge on the rear deck without looking like a tool.

Just put a turbo badge on - nobody will no; and it's so much cheaper than a conversion!

There's more than one Coupe-to-Cab (even Speedster) conversion out there. I was involved in a '94 C4 Widebody, nearly 20 years ago. It was........passable.

Anyway, at one time when Colin @ Ninemeister was showing us his handiwork on a 993 Speedster conversion, he mentioned to me that chopping the top of my 4S wouldn't be that big of a deal, all things considered.

C4 should already have the right running gear (hydraulic assist for the brakes, bigger brakes, etc). Simple motor swap should be all that you need to do...
I don't know that I would try to add aftermarket turbos to an NA motor though...

Turbo had larger axles in the rear, not sure about the front..

I'm still in the "sell the cab and buy a turbo" camp. This would not be a simple undertaking.

I think the most cost effective way to boost that cab would be to contact Protomotive and purchase a stage I or II turbo kit for the NA motor. I think a used 993TT motor would run $25K+++(if not more with the 993 values the way they are) plus all the stuff/labour needed to make it work vs. the Protomotive kit which starts at $12K and seems pretty bolt-on AFAIK.. At least the R&R would be already done for you and you could spend the remainder of your budget on internals and tuning.

C4 does not have the Turbo/C4S big red brakes.
