I have a pair of the Meistersatz monster struts, when I pull the release I also have to hold the decklid so it doesn't pop up fast. I actually prefer struts that are almost dead so I have to lift the lid to open, but are alive enough to keep the lid up.
I will ship these struts to you for free and you can try them out, if you promise to either send me your current struts that don't pop the lid up or send back the Meistersatz struts.

Replaced my front struts a couple of years after repeated head strikes. Installed factory struts front and rear which work perfectly with just the right amount of lift for the standard rear deck lid.

Appreciate your kind offer, but I'm still recovering from the strenuous effort I had to make to change these over the week end. It is the first time I have done it and the right side was a piece of cake (relatively speaking), the left side was a little more frustrating.
Ideally one should be no taller than 4' 6" and have arms 3 feet longer than normal.
I have bought one pair of straight and one pair of curved 12" surgical forceps for future endevours in the engine room.
Yes, I know there are people who regularly whip these in and out in a few minutes, but not I sir.

The delta in force I think also how long they are in service and number of miles. Meaning my lid stays up to cool the engine after I take a drive, I only drive <2000 miles a year, so the strut isn't cooking in the engine heat while in traffic etc. Just a swag but hey it could be true.

You can also only replace one strut. Mine were too weak to hold up the lid. I replaced one side with a HD shock and it is perfect for me. I don't want it to pop up fully. If I put the other HD strut on there, it would definitely pop up.
