This blows. I hope they find the car. I'm scared to park my car out of site when I hear these stories.

I am not technically savvy, but I would assume if you had some type of GPS tracker that can send a warning to your cell phone when the car goes in motion, it could help calling attention to theft in progress. Santa Claus will be looking into these devices for me......

That really blows. It looks like a beautiful car. I must admit, every time I park mine somewhere, particularly if we're staying at a hotel for the weekend, I always wonder if it'll still be there in the morning. I just keep increasing my agreed value with Haggerty every year and try not to worry about it.

This is terrible...this is exactly why I installed the RS battery kill in the frunk. It's a pain in the butt to lock/unlock every time but I'd rather deal with it rather than deal with a tragedy like this. I'm not sure if you'd still want it back if/when they find it but I hope it's found and with the theives. Sorry for your loss.

The owner mentioned in their FB page that the Porsche was most likely towed. I get the sense this is how most of the stolen 993's were taken. I never read comments about "broken glass" which would suggest an old school type theft. So unless there is a program to quickly bypass the immobilizer, the intrusion must take place in the confines of a building or other enclosed area. Not an expert here just my $0.02.

Yes, a lot of these cars simply get towed. Guys, please remember to turn the steering wheel and lock it when you remove the key from the ignition. Sure, this lock can be broken with force but it is one more layer of deterrent and makes it more difficult to pull a car up on to a flat bed with the front wheels turned.

Again, there's not too much you can do when they bring a tow truck. I think they use the portable foot jacks, then probably load the car into an enclosed trailer. If the whole process is 10 mins, it's a lot. Unfortunately the thieves are more advanced today.

Back home, this has been the preferred method for decades. It is much more stealth and few people will think twice about a tow truck showing up. It wouldn't surprise me if that method was used. So sad to hear things like this happen, I hope they catch the scumbags.
