The ad reads "transmission : automatic" which made me raise the question about tiptronic.
Also, I work in San Rafael and could easily Rennfax this 993 for someone if they're interested from afar.

I don't think its that bad, a C4S with 29k miles converted to a 430 hp turbo. If the conversion is done well and you want something to drive and enjoy, it might be a good option; especially given the current price for a factory turbo.

This car will need a "special" person to see it's value, as $80K buys you so many nice cars with more horses/faster and others that will hold their value much better

If the work was done well, I wouldn't consider it to be an undesirable car. Granted, the prospective buyer pool nonetheless may be smaller than a non-molested car, but there are buyers who will see this as a $20k-70k savings over a factory TT.
I also wouldn't consider it a Frankencar. To me, Frankencar connotes batardizing a car so that it's no longer recognizable as appearing like a factory model, and/or combines different components from different cars. This car doesn't fit that description.

The Cayman GT4 just made the $80k price point a bit more competitive though. I'd have a hard time justifying $80k for this car as a driver, when I could have a brand new factory tuned track car like the GT4 for comparable money.

I'm with you. Certainly, given those and only those choices, I'd be pursuing the Cayman.

Ha.....I just stumbled across this.
The car in question is mine. I listed it for 5 days and got clobbered by inquiries. I had to take it down and re-evaluate things.
I know the car does not appeal to many. Turbo guys reject it like it's a tranny and the NA guys hate that it's turbocharged.
That being said I sold my TT to buy this car. The TT was AWESOME WOT but lacked the responsiveness and snappy personality of a NA 993. The 993 NA while snappy and responsive did not have the overall power I felt the car needed. If you have driven both the C4S and the Turbo you'll know what I am taking about.
Turbo charging a VRAM motor you end up with the best of both worlds. The larger ports, bigger cams, VRAM and higher compression make for a wonderful combination. I built the motor, added custom cams, arrow rods and welded/flame ringed the heads. The car is currently tuned for 100oct but can be re-tuned for 91-93 or better yet E85. I built it with the intention of running E85 hence the higher compression. I am going to add a EBC and make the torque curve even flatter. Should roll out the big end at 460whp after.
Different strokes I guess. I got what I wanted a 430whp (500 crank?) that feels like a GT3 motor. Purists be damned! I feel the car will be better received as the years roll on.
