Fister Stage III's.
I just installed my Fister III's this past week. I went on a club drive this weekend and they sound phenomenal! I too struggled with deciding whether to go with IIs or IIIs. I had RSR's which are cool but these IIIs are in another world of awesome sound. Thumbs Up to Darrin at FDM.

The problem with sound, it is very subjective. What sounds good to one person, may not be tolerable to another. Plus depending upon hearing loss, you may have no idea how loud it really is.
With that said, my vote is for the Fister III's.

IF you have the occasional need to drive late into your driveway or garage, with III's be prepared to wake up the neighbourhood. The tone is wonderful, but it is way too loud when you need to be quiet if you are a city dweller, at least to me.
You need to hear them in person - too much variability on recordings, and the volume difference does not come through.
Cheers,
Mike

I arrived home a little late the other night. Two of my neighbors were sitting out in their front yards. They walked over and told me that my car sounds awesome! These are not Porsche or even car folks. You may have already decided but I say definitely buy the IIIs . At cruising low speeds they are no louder than my RSR's just a deeper tone.

This is so personal that the only real way is to decide is to hear them in person - no recordings or opinions really matter because the choice of II vs III is very individual.
Personally, I could not live with III's - too loud at low RPM's, parking a night, etc. Nice tone while moving though!
Cheers,

I agree with Mike J. I got IIIs right out the gate and am in love with the sound. But they are pretty aggressive if you drive at odd hours and actually like your neighbors. You can baby the RPMs and keep the sound down unless youre going uphill and trying not to stall the car. Where I live now IIIs are perfect. But if I ever moved into a more residential area, Id think about swapping someone for IIs

I have seen several threads of people asking to trade III's for II's because of the III's being too loud. Never seen anyone wanting to trade II's because they weren't loud enough. That said I still love both.

I didnt see any videos posted while I skimmed the thread. Here are two vids I did right when I got the new cans. First is just the start up sound so I could see what would happen when I went to work (no gas). Second is some higher revs

Haha, I like how the fister topic/debate has been brought up a lot recently. Great vid^ Fister3's are sexy and imo perfect match for those with stock cats like myself. May do stage 1 or 2 with sport cats when my stock system needs to be replaced but until then 3s. Stage 2's are more tame below 3500rpm which may be what some prefer. Both sound awesome. I'd like to hear stage 1 in person but i've only watched vids posted online.

I recently had Darin convert B&B mufflers on my '97 C4S to Fister III's. The car also has B&B headers and the drone was miserable. He could not do a II conversion, given my set up, only III. I had heard the II's and they would have been enough. But, I went with the III's.
I LOVE them, very glad I was "forced" to make that choice. Darin turned them around in 3 days, and they came back polished and gorgeous.
Go with III's- raspy, burbly when you let off the accelerator, no droning, several pounds lighter.
Fred- Portland, OR, if anyone wants to hear them.
