Heacock Classic Car Insurance - Reviews?
I saw the nice folks from Heacock Classic Car Insurance at the Amelia Island concours this past weekend and they sent me a quote today for my '97 993's insurance.
Currently I am with Leland West and have provided them a lot of information and comparables trying to get the "agreed value" up to a realistic number in this new air cooled world we live in. I did get them to bump the value in January but the car is still 25% undervalued.
Heacock's quote meets my goals of being properly insured (up 25%), and the terms and conditions are identical to LW. The Heacock pricing is nearly the same as LW's as well.
So, my question is - does anyone have any experience with Heacock as far as customer service, claims - the mechanical side of having them as your insurer? I did a search and there isn't much about this company.
Thanks in advance.

Mike,
FWIW, I did not have a problem having LW increase my coverage on my 96 NB 993 to $50k, Agreed Value. I did however, provide a list of upgrades that are currently installed on the car.

Paul,
Your advice a couple of months ago was appreciated and based on your help I got LW up 25%, but still way short of what it would cost to replace my 993. They refused to budge again on this after a few more back and forths.
Heacock immediately agreed that my estimate of the car's value was right based on the documentation and photos I provided. I will pm you a bit more info.

My LW policy renewal was due today. last year my agreed upon value for my 95c2 was $40,000. They refused to insure for more. 2 wks ago I called and was told they would increase my value to a max of $43,000. I called today and said to "Megan" I want to increase my agreed upon to $50,000
She asked, based on what? My reply: Rennlist, Panorama, Excellence, PCA, Ebay, autotrader. She said she'll do some research and get back to me. Calls back and agrees to increase my agreed upon to $50,000. My policy cost went from $541 to $655. True story.

Interesting re Leland West. I talked to Megan today and we cannot come to agreement on my mint condition 97C2S with 34k in miles. They will only go to $74K and I have several data points indicating the values are much more than that including two written offers from reputable dealers who have offered me substantially more for the car if I would sell to them. One is a so cal porsche dealership.

I just increased my coverage on both 993's with Heacock. They requested a few recent pics to verify condition. Immediate affirmative response. Have been with Heacock for over 20 years. Only one claim in all that time and they were very prompt to cover it.

I'm with Classic Collectors through Jack LaRue Insurance. Pleased with his service. Just raised my '96 TT Agreed Value from $115k to $150k….no problem. Have five cars insured with them.

The first of this year I reviewed my coverage. I use USAA on all my stuff. But they do not cover "agreed Value". So i looked at
Leland West
Heacock
Grundy
AMI
Hagerty
with all the same criteria 100/300, 3k miles/year with no restrictions, uninsured, and $50K value. (1998 C2S, plus updates and options).
Only 2, Heacock and one other, were reasonable. The other insurer was reported to be a PITA to deal with. So its easy to shop around, most all of them have a web quote, then I followed up with contacting them or they contacted me, to see what other issues might arise not covered in the web quote..so I went with Heacock.
good luck.

Thanks bojali.
I was with Hagerty originally but after years of 5% increases every year I got tired of them. I wasn't getting any addtl coverage for the annual increases.
Leland West as I explained in my OP was not willing to insure the car for what it was worth. Plus their customer service was mediocre.

Your agreed value seems nowhere near sufficient for a 98 C2S. Is the car in good condition both visually and mechanically; or do you ride it hard and put it away wet?
