Spoiler wall cracked again
I replaced the spoiler wall plastic 2k miles and 1 year ago but I just noticed it is fully separated again. The way the plastic wall is designed to fold it will crack sooner or later but 2k miles seems unreasonable. Did I just get a bad part? How long should these last? I'd hate to use black duct tape to help the hinge last

Unacceptable part lifespan, should contact vendor for free replacement. Then consider modification to control unit to disable automatic extension/retraction function and make it 100% controlled by console switch. Search on Rennlist will reveal modification process; essentially removing 2 wires/pins from control unit that is under dash by glovebox.

I've been without one for 2 years. I bought one from Pelican and it never stayed on (as I understand it, there were some that were defective). Hasn't made a difference that I can tell.

Would be interesting to see if the Original Porsche units were fairing any better than the "German" produced parts. I'll see if we have any info.

Solution is quite easy
Admittedly a bit attention seeking, I kind of enjoy the spoiler wing going up and down on it's own, active aerodynamics and all, so disabling it was not my choice. After my wall failing, I simply added a thin strip of black silicone tape on the inside facing face to the new wall. The silicone is heat resistant, does not degrade, you cannot see it, and it never came apart. It has been 3 years with no wear on the folding part whatsoever.

when the car exceeds 10mph push the button to extend it. that locks it in the up position and precludes the incessant cycling of the wing until the engine is shut off. this saves wear and tear on the spoiler motor and spoiler wall. been doing this for over a decade. i also dress it with aerospace 303.
