Looks like it.

I would spray it back to its original colour and have quite a unique car.

That doesn't look like amaranth. Looks metallic.

Google search found this. Cool colour.

I'm totally off, description of car from owner:
1997 993TT. Amethyst (999) over full-leather magenta (99). Car has over 13 X-Options from Porsche Exclusive. It was then modified by TechArt with their TA1 engine upgrade package to yield 442hp.

yes, Barney is most certainly Amaranth Violet. It's a non-metallic and non-pearl color. Here are some pictures from it's arrival in Colorado:

I have seen both in person, in the same parking lot on the same day at a cruise and lunch last year, though they were not side by side. It's probably of little help to you, but I would stick with the Iris Blue if it were my car. The non-metallic Amaranth looks pretty flat to my eye and the one I saw in person didn't look as nice as the photo above, but that could have been a detailing issue.

Well my friend, you are replying to a question asked back in 2003....you are right I should have done that but instead I sold the car and got a 997.1... that was a bad move.... the 993 is irreplaceable..
