For example, if the heads run really hot, and transfer some of that heat to the intake manifold, sure that manifold will be cooled by ambient air on the outside, and the intake are on the inside, but no way that the intake manifold will be at same temperatures as the intake air temperature.

Best case the intakes will be very slightly higher than the cooling air, and if the air cannot accept enough heat, the intakes can be much hotter. That is the danger.

I'd be interested if anyone has any empirical data to show that gold-plated intake parts on a 993 provide a significant power increase, assuming "significant" is defined as more than five horsepower.

No offense, but as a casual observer the team working on the engine project seems like they would know a lot more than any of you regarding whether or not the gold is an added benefit.

Additionally, Robert did not specify but the gold plating may also be used to protect the carbon fiber itself, similar to its use in the McLaren F1.

Not sure I have seen evidence of this yet. Just some claimed dyno numbers?

I think you'd want more than dyno Numbers before you spend $75k on a motor. Reality is that 99% of the people commenting can't even afford this motor. I'd let those who are actually going to throw down the coin ask the questions.

But given the history of the OP, I'd say that he knows the right people and has the right connections and knowledge to make what he's claiming happen.

It's quite real. The real question is will it be for sale or will it remain, as originally planned, just a base test engine? And, btw, anyone can make up dyno sheets. Further, I have seen too many instances of tuners showing dyno sheets and when the engine was on an independent dyno we couldn't get real HP to be close to that claimed.

I still do not understand why anyone cares about me. I am not asking anyone to buy anything. Nor am I asking anyone to invest anything. I post because I thought some people might find this interesting. If one does not, no need to read.

Robert - All very good points. Unfortunately you are dealing with people, who are by default skeptical and negative.

I'd ignore the peanut gallery and keep posting your progress. As I said, even if you do sell it, none of them will be your customers anyway.

Robert - I for one enjoy the posts and tracking what you are doing very much. It is very interesting to see what your team is doing to push the boundaries of performance with these engines. Thank you for continuing to update us.

It's all way above my pay-grade, but as an engineer I am fascinated by this stuff! I, for one, have loved hearing about the development process.
