LONG intro to me and my '95 Coupe.
Hi Everyone!
Long time lurker, first time poster introduction.
I’m 54. I had my first 911 in about 1980 when I was too young to really afford or appreciate it. If I remember correctly, it was a '69 911E sport-o-matic, I wonder what it’s worth today? A couple years later, I had a ‘75S Targa (that I couldnt really afford, either). My life and career progressed and I eventually had a couple Boxsters (I DO like the balance of a mid-engine). Then I was lucky enough to have a 996 Turbo.
I am also a Ducati guy and love the air-cooled single cam Duc motors. I have a 2008 Hypermotard S. As Ducati was phasing out the air cooled motors (for the same reasons everyone else has), I started to get really nostalgic about air cooled Porsches. About 3 years ago, I bought a very nice ’97 993 cab with under 40k miles. It was a great car (even with top cables, SAI issues and other unexpected costs). I sold it in a fit of madness right as prices started to go nuts 2 years ago (ish). I had convinced myself I wanted a coupe.
Time passed and prices —as we all know—have gone crazy. My income level has not kept pace :-)
I recognized that I would be looking at a higher mileage car than I might otherwise prefer.
After narrowly missing out on Foxman’s C4 (damn!), I found and purchased a '95 993 2-wheel drive Coupe (1994 re-vin option M718).
She’s old and has a few rough edges, but she has been generally well cared for…by my calculation from the records I got, not including top-ups, she has had at leat 220 quarts of oil poured into her in her 125k miles!!
The M718 cars seem pretty interesting, mine is VIN WP0AA2991SS320627, build date of 2/94…so a super early car for USA.
For those who don’t know (like me before I found this car and started doing some homework), the M718 cars were really 1994’s that were re-VIN’d to 1995 for the US market. They have some remnant 964 bits. I scoured Reenlist and Pelican, etc. to try to learn what I could about the 718 cars….And would love to know more….maybe an “official M718 Thread” ???
Otherwise, she has LSD/ABD and factory short shift (interesting) and 030. So she was either special ordered as a “drivers” car or spec’d that way by the dealer. The previous owner put MY/02 wheels, which I really like.
I've started doing a lot of the rennlist recommended stuff and hope to make her into a nice, guilt free driver.
I love this site and am excited to be a member of the community.
I will reach out soon with a few items from my old car(s) I need to sell and for stuff I need for #20627.
Thanks,

Thanks Gents for the warm welcome! The only way I am giving this one up is if my wife wins the Powerball! In which case I will make her buy me a 993 TurboS, a 959 and a Singer :-)

Congrats on a great looking car! I say that because I have #20483! Mine was delivered to the first owner on 5-21-94. How did you find the build date?
Although a different paint color and interior color (Aventurine Green Pearl and Cashmere), it has the same options less the sports suspension and hifi sound system.
Enjoy!

Hi Dave (and others in the M718 club).
On my car, inside the driver's door jamb is a VIN sticker (US federalization) with a bar-code. On the top line, after "MFD BY DR. ING H.C. F. PORSCHE AG" is shows "2/94".
Hope this helps.
