Also an FYI, there is a 3 month waitlist to get them, personalized or not.

My first set came in just under 2 months. I ordered a second set 2.5 months ago and nothing yet. My boss just got some for his motorcycle, his took more than 4 months.

My coworker has them on his yellow GT4 and I must say it looks pretty awesome.

I approve this message.

Agreed, the Black Plates are not for the purist.

I would have agreed about year appropriate plates, that is, right up to the time I saw these plates on a late model car. Then all my proper and righteous points of view about how the plate should reflect the year of mfg, went right out the window. They look so retro, so cool...sort of like 993 guys putting "Duck Tails" on their car. 993 cars never came with a "Duck Tails", but some of us really like this look. Not me personally...but there are quite a few of them out there.

I am going to get some black plates for my Toyota Tundra too.
I don't suspect many here - except you and me Marty- actually owned cars during the time black/yellow (or blue/yellow for that matter) plates were all one could have when the car was registered

I agree but if they did that there would never have been enough (7,500) sold for them to qualify to be issued. Better to have plates on newer cars than no new black plates at all.

While I didn't own a car when black plates were current, I did own a black-plated car during the blue plate era......

@ the market the other day.... #blackplate on a triple black cab. as an art director/designer I prefer the plate design & basic sans serif font for 'california' - form follows function.
