Default Duraflex, fresh out of the box GT-2 Chin Spoiler

I always wanted to add the GT-2 look to my front bumper and finally splurged for the Duraflex part. During my research I could find nothing on the scope of prep that will be required for the parts to work, This led me to make this posting for the benefit of the 993 community.
Just unboxed the Duraflex GT-2 front three part splitter kit.
Wow this is going to be a lot of work.
Overall shape looks good assuming the overall dimensions are correct.
The profile of the sections are very rough and have irregularities that a professional body shop would find unacceptable due the extensive labor it will require to repair them.
Not sure how this part as Duraflex Brand is any more resiliant than a fiberglass part.

The kit will require a lot of work and multiple steps:
  • A trial fitting with a substantial amont of tapping, trimming and adjustment to the body fit and the interface between the side splitters and the center section.
  • A significant clean up of the fascia of the parts
  • The reworking of the contours on the wing tips.
  • Painting
  • Final installation.
The part is going back as it doesn't even come close to the quality standards on should expect for a commercial body part.
Andy

Good post.. Mine is a Getty and it required quite a bit of work to fit it right (all of them will pop out on the left front); and I had the gaps evened out). then I had the outer layer covered in CF...

By the time you pay the labor rate to fix that thing isn't it better if you just bought the OEM piece? Which, BTW, won't shatter into a million pieces the first time it says hello to a curb?

For a heads-Up follow-Up I made a request to return on eBay where upon I received nomeaningful follow-up on my complaint due to poor quality. I made a claim through eBay's complaint resolution and found that my claim was denied and the page allowing for feedback on the purchase experience and product quality has disappeared from my purchase history seemingly eliminating my opportunity to alert other buyers of my problems with the seller's product.

Default What a horror story

I got mine form Peter ???:
Peter
Rennspeed Motorsports
1040 Hamilton Rd Suite #D , Duarte, CA 91010 USA
Tel: 626-256-8878 Fax: 626 256-9038
Cost was about $550. Finish and fit was acceptable.

But if I were going it over again, I'd by from FVD at about $800, or Gert at Carnewal...don;t know his price, but as most of us do know, he doesn't sell crap.
