what are the disadvantages of these? increased wear?

disadvantages? no. they are superior to the OEM bushings that deteriorate/degrade after 10 years or so...tell tale sign they need replacing is steering wheel shake at cruising speed.

...And based upon the above statement, it makes crazy good sense if your car still has the 20 yr old OEM bushes, whether steering wheel shake or not.
