modern air condition kit for 993?
I don't use the AC in my 993 much but when I do it seems more than adequate for cooling off the car.. Is your AC not cooling off the car effectively? If not then maybe it just needs a recharge.

I agree. I don't think it needs to be modern, it probably just needs to be gone through & fixed.

The ac in my 2010 VW doesn't work as hard and is colder than the unit in my 993. In the 1 and 2 blower positions it's much quieter and cools better than the 993's highest. There has been progress in car ac over the past 20 years.

The AC in my 993 works better than any other car I've owned, probably because the cabin is so small.
Now, the heat on the other hand is terrible in my car. I'd love to not wait 20 minutes for it to heat up and defrost the front screen.
What dont you like about your current set up? Is everything functioning and up to snuff parts-wise?

993 AC is adequate up to about 90-95*. Then it isn't, particularly if you park it outside.
Agree that in temps below 90*, a well-operating AC system should keep you cool.
To answer your question, there aren't any widely known upgrades for the 993 AC. But lots of good info on this site about getting the max cooling out of the existing system.

The AC system in a 993 is a modern system with a modern compressor and other components. Any perceived ineffectiveness has to due with the large amount of glass in a 993 and sub optimal air flow and cabin insulation inherent in the classic form factor of a 911 body. The temperature drop of the air flow at the vents is quite good.

You might look at the Griffiths web site. They have upgraded components for the 993. It's my understanding that their evaporator is the most significant for improved performance; it's also the most labor to change.

OP,,, A fully operational HVAC system in a 911 (993) production is more than adequate to handle ambient temps at or below,,, say 90*F + with full equator like sun in the skies...
With the HVAC system operation confirmed ... Try controlling the solar gain effecting (elevating) the interior temperature. There are several basically clear glass films, Huper Optik brand to name a one of several,, which applied to the rear, side and front windshield greatly reduce the mighty solar gain temperature increase.
During a sunny Colorado summer a few years ago I'd try such a film type starting with the coupes rear glass only... (the film aesthetic is that of clear glass)... The practice was convincing in two aspects; The effectiveness of controlling solar gain on the 993's interior/comfort and the film type. Several film brands offer the "clear-like solar gain control" approach....
Fast forward a few years .... Our Colorado car a Subi OB XT wagon has the clear-like solar film, as does my daily driver a MY06 VW GTI ..
My guess is sooner or later the OE's will offer manufacture's these "like clear" solar film types within the glazing production. My .02
