$30K...what type of Accident History? Salvage?
#5
not a salvage, just shows accident history, from looking at car, left read fender was repaired, the rear grill appears to have been replaced but rear has not been repainted, don't know if the rear grill replacement was due to accident or other reasons (its a split grill which i don't believe came on 1995 c2

Rear fender is not a bolt on part so car should be checked for unibody damage. Has it had a clutch, steering rack, alternator, rotors done recently?
Does it shift smoothly when cold - 1st & 2nd gear synchros in good shape?
If no unibody issues and mechanically sound $30K+/-

This car sounds awfully like the one my mother's cousin is selling just outside of DC. If it is John (the seller) is an upstanding guy who is by far the most meticulous person I know. He's a former aviation engineer so he understands the importance that comes with attention to detail. As far as I can tell the slit grill and 18" twists were added by a previous owner for aesthetic reasons.

Might be a nice guy, but I bet he's not the most meticulous person you know. By far.

Troll all you want Goof but you don't know the guy or the car. The interior and paint condition are due to a previous owner who let the car sit in the Floridian heat for years. John (being a mechanic) has focused his restorative efforts on the mechanical aspects of the car including a new clutch and a completely gone over AC system. Undergoing a bare metal restoration makes no sense on a car with ~90k miles and his efforts have been towards making it a functional and enjoyable driver's car.

How about we settle with: It has a meticulously maintained clutch and AC system with a trashed interior, bubbles in paint, and missing paint on the rear, currently owned by The Most Meticulous Man By Far.
Better?

Based on the interior condition and accident history, I doubt it's actually in good mechanical condition. Be sure to have a knowledgeable Porsche (air cooled) mechanic evaluate its mechanical condition. Interiors are not cheap, accident history affects its value, and with unexpected mechanical issues you may be better off paying more for a sound example.
Good luck with it.
