"Wrong" wheels? How does an insurance company make a value judgment such as that?

Hi Ron,

I insure with Grundy Worldwide/Philadelphia Insurance. They don't use agents, but they had no problem increasing the coverage last year on both my C2S's to $65,000 when I asked. Formerly they would not budge above the $53,000 purchase price when I first insured with them two years ago.

Grundy does not micro manage the process and will not ask what kind of wheels you have...

I also went with Grundy. Easy to deal with. I insured my 97 C4S for $60,000. All they wanted was a completed application, registration and a picture of the car.

Wrong wheels means the wheels at the time the appraisal was done where not those listed on the window sticker.

Based on the appraiser reputation the insurance company and other factors I would not know about they took apprisers word for value.

Understood...but don't understand.

I didn't know an appraisal was needed for an agreed value policy. Must be unique to the company.

I have State Farm agreed value, if I want to go above 99K I will need an appraisal. On other threads on agreed value sometimes others stated they had to get an appraisal as well.

I wanted a realistic value the insruance company would agree to.
The guy I used has testified and been qualified to do so many times .

So yes insurance company wanted appraisal.

That sounds about right.

However, not so. I had to send current photos of the car and a list of upgraded modifications and receipts. Leland West (American Modern)

I had at one time, Hagerty which did not require our discussed validation, but I found their pricing and restrictions unreasonable.

Dont know about the others...What about Heacock, which seem to be popular and well liked by many?

I just insured my car for $60k with Haggerty. No hassle or appraisal. I did need to send them a picture of the car. I have my 67 mustang with them too.

I've raised mine 3 times with Heacock Classic, and they never batted an eye. When I first insured with them, I only needed to send 4 pics from all sides and one of engine bay.

I have Leyland-West. I've increased my agreed value coverage each year, for the last 3 or 4 years. All it took was a phone call.

I had my car with Leland West at $80,000 agreed value. It was a pain in the *** to try and raise the agreed value of my low mileage C2S. Switched to Heacock and got $150,000 agreed value with no appraisal.

Mine is also Haggerty, and I have been able to adjust my agreed value policy by showing listings of similar cars for sale. Not difficult. I had to send some photos of the car when I originally insured it.

The idea of buying new wheels and getting an appraisal to increase the agreed value policy up by $2k makes my head hurt.

Another vote for Heacock. State your desired value, send in pics, Done!
