Default ID These Wheels

I've only had the car a few weeks and am still learning new things about it. I went to put air in the tires (left front has a slow leak) and consulted the owners manual. There I learned that there is no PSI listed for 18" wheels. I'm now guessing that my car does not have its born with wheels. Am I correct that 993's didn't come with 18 inch wheels? Can you tell me anything about the wheels I have just from this photo? Thanks!!

Those are 18" twist wheels you have there . 18" and 17" were available on the 993 , the 17" were cup II's ..
is your car a wide body or narrow body ? What year is your car breaks?

Porsche recommends 36F/44R on 18' wheels on the 993. There are threads on this, not everyone follows that recommendation, even just for street use. I currently run lower than this on my C4S, seems to have better grip and a better ride. If I was going to blast down the auto bonn at 160 then I would follow their recommendation.

Thanks for the replies. Now I know my 95 C2 NB could have come with 18" wheels. Is there a Option code I can check to see if the 18" wheels are a factory option?

Nope. MY95 were 16" standard and 17" upgrade. MY96-98 were 17" standard and 18" upgrade. MY95 needed a steering rack brace for 18" wheel upgrade while MY96-98 was factory installed.

So you are saying 18" wheels were not a factory option in 1995? Can you tell me more about the Steering Rack Brace so I can see if my car has one installed? Thanks

Correct. Read this thread; an old one but will educate you about how information evolves. Highly likely your 993 already has the steering brace installed. Between this thread, the search feature here on RL and google, you can easily find a picture of this brace and more information than you can handle.

I had no idea I stumbled onto a potential safety issue. I'll look at my steering box to see if the previous owner installed the added brace and go from there. Thanks for the link to the thread.

Kind of surprised that given the fact you own a bunch of widebodies that you couldn't tell from the OP's picture that he has a narrow body. Hell, I only own one widebody and I could tell!!!

A pretty definitive list of wheels:
http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php
You've got one of these:
Turbo I(hollow spoke)
Turbo Look I (solid spoke)
Feel the backside.....errr, of the wheel spokes. If they are smooth, you've got hollows. If the are "ribbed" (quiet with the snickering ....), its the solid spoke wheels. See pics under "Details" on that page. Hollows are more sought after/rare. They were also used on some Boxsters (7.5" & 9"), while 8" & 10" were used on 993s.

I pulled the wheels and based on the Chart was able to verify that the wheels I have in the front are the Turbo Look I wheels part number 99339213600. It looks like I was also able to fix the small leak in the tire. I tightened the nut on the valve stem and poof - no more bubbles. Now back to worrying about the steering brace. Thanks for all the help.

There is a replacement kit for the valve stem and rubber o-ring from Porsche. As I recall it wasn't expensive and should be replaced at some time (don't recall what the official interval is...). You cold order some and replace them next tire change. But also there is also the mantra, "if it ain't broke..."...
