I took delivery of my MY 1997 silver 993 Carrera. Thanks all for your contributions here--I learn so much even though I don't have much (any) knowledge to add. 84,479 miles as of this AM, so 4,224 miles per year. Ha, I don't have any particular skills. The model year 1997 cars were available in December 1996. I bought mine off the showroom floor in Greenwich, CT.

We did have a Boxster for my wife for awhile but otherwise the cars have been nice but certainly not exotic, and they always were meant to be the clear alternative to the 993 when such a vehicle fit our needs better, e.g., a Land Cruiser, three Range Rovers, a few BMWs, a Mercedes wagon, and now a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for hunting and fishing. Complimentary vehicles, really.

It'd be kind of cool to hear from other original owners.
