Default Clewett Serpentine Belt System

Hi Guys, hope some of you can help with this, I have 96 turbo that has chucked a few belts over the last 12 years or so, I never really got to to find out exactly why. I have now got the Clewett system and wondered if its possible to install with the engine in the car? Anyone have an idiots guide to fitting? Crank pulley makes me cringe!

Yeah but the turbo engine sits 50mm closer to the back than the n/a car, anyone managed it?

Clewett system is great. My engine was out when installed so don't know unfortunately. When you do fit it, check that the pulley on the alternator sits flush - mine didn't due to cast markings and caused failure of fan on the back of the alternator. Let me find the thread with pics

You may not have to drop the engine but most if not all the exhaust catalyst will need to be removed and the engine yolk most importantly then and only then I believe the crank pulley can be changed ..YMMV , Bert
