Default Euro Horn upgrade??

I miss the more cheerful/less intrusive sound of the horn(s) on my previous 911s. The horn on the TT sounds like a Buick horn. Has anyone changed out the stock horn for the earlier trumpet type horns?? There is a space problem up on the wheel well too.

Thanks

Bill, it's very easy to do as some early 993's came with the older style horns.

Viken/Jeff—thanks! Exactly the two pieces of info that I require. I appreciate it.

Enjoy your evening,

Bill

Does this mean that it will not be as loud as the stock horn?

Mike, surly you've heard the older horns but perhaps don't recall. The horn I'm getting from Gert is a two pitch horn. While in may not be as loud in decibels (which would surprise me) I think it would be more noticeable due to its being different. Also, it is also easier to signal just lightly when trying to get someone's attention when the light turns green, etc. I like the cheerful sound of those older horns. Besides, they make the turbos spool up slightly faster.

Anyway to make the horns sound like the one in the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazard?

I knew those horns resemble velocity stacks for a reason!

I did this mod a couple of years ago and absolutely love the distinctive and classic sound. While not as loud as the OEM electric horn, the pitch is very attention grabbing. I've never had any problem getting other drivers' attention in a time of need.
