Sidestep the clutch at about 5000 rpm, ****** the second of six available gears...
That's interesting that their 3.7s 0-60 time was starting in 2nd gear. I'm assuming the 0-60 time starting in first was longer.

I think that means they shifted immediately after launch.

I special ordered a 96 993 C2 and took factory delievery. I had one track event and immediately traded it for a 993tt. I still have the 993tt. No regrets on that trade.

I'm with JJayB

I had a 964T, traded it for the 993TT. I recently decided to sell the TT and buy a 993 C2 instead. My TT sat on consignment for 3 months while I drove the C2... last week I took back the TT and I'm selling the C2... there's just no comparison. The C2 is wonderful, no question - but the Turbo... ooohhhh... the white-knuckle-sure-footed-horizon-bending-tarmac-eating Turbo.... nuff sed!

TB,

Thanks for the scan. That is a glowing article.

Interesting the author lusted for the C2. That only makes me feel like a king, as I have a 993 Ruf BTR-2, read: a smidge better performance than a stock 993tt, but with a C2 platform. So that's the best of both worlds acoording to AutoCar, right?

CP you have to remember that this was 1995 so the comments are relative to what else was out there.
Can't disagree with you (or them) about the RWD being the nicest driving set up for a 993
Should this article be a sticky for new owners to read ?

I think you probably are right - how does it drive compared to both?

Kenny,

I have not driven the AWD, so I can't compare.

Ah that's a shame CP - do you have any road-test articles of the BTR you could PM me? Sounds an amazing car.
