Default Tyres - which are best

Should have asked this ages ago, which is the best overall tyre, remember its a bit wetter over hear.
Have Eagles at the moment and will need to replace soon, never seen anyone really recommend them on Porcshes.
Loved the Continentals on my 964 especially the grip and increased wheel protection
Had Pilots on 944S2 and they were good in wet and better than the SO2's, though they didnt look so good. Have noticed from the site that they dont seem to wear so well!?
I'm not likely to spend much time on the track.
Thanks
Gordon

Pilot Sport 2's are excellent in the dry and wet (I'm in Seattle which is quite wet).

Unfortunately all our tread compounds are different to our north american cousins....

I have had good experiences with Conti Sportcontact 2 N2 (which i guess is what Martin is running) for wet and dry grip and wear rate. Pretty much the same with Bridgestone S02/S02A which i am running now, but they go off in the wet towards the end of their life and they wear a little faster than the Conti's.
Stay away from Pirelli - good in the dry, mediocre in the wet if you're lucky, and wear like there's no tomorrow.
Michelin Pilots are an equal to the Conti N2 (better than Conti N1) but very noisy (not that you'd probably notice in a 993tt!).

Didn't think they made Eagles N rated in our sizes, and the discussion has been had before about insurance companies not paying out because of non-N rated tyres (and no, i'm not kidding).

Gordon, i want to hear the bypasses, see if they sound different on your car or if it's just my taste
Lunch friday?

I'd say the Michelins are great. Pzero are nice too (nice grip!), but as mentioned, they wear a lot.

I am using Bridgestone S 02A's with no problems. A very good street tire, better than previous Pirelli's which tend to track grooves in the road.

I had a new set of PZero Neros that I flatspotted and have switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 2 and the are simply amazing. The PS2s provide a better level of comfort and feedback than the Pirellis did, I do not like to drive my car in the rain but if I am caught in some precipitation, I am more confident in the tire tackiness and ultimately the cars tractability. I vote for the Michelins period.

Tom Chin at Turbo Performance Center recommend Michelin PS2 for street use. They are incredible! I went to 315 x 30 and 245 x 40 which gives me almost the same ratio f-r as the stock sizes. No tramline, good clearance when fit on the BBS 8" and 11" rims. No regrets.

I'm using the PZERO Corsa and really like them. They are an "R" tire but they really behave like a really sticky street tire. It doesn't rain much here in Toronto so I haven't tried them out in deep rain, but in the dry, they are fantastic and that includes some track days as well.

I agree with Very Sideways regards the standard P Zeros; I found they made the car feel very twitchy in the rain.
