I went from a 993 C2 to a 996 C2 to a 996 TT and I was a little concerned about having already owned a 996 that I would be a little bored with having another.
Well how wrong was I ?? VERY!!
They are a completly different animal that keep the grins large!!
My Brother went from a 993 Targa to a 996 C2 and I tried to make him buy a 993 TT, however he bought a 996 C4. Stupid Move IMO!! Everytime one upgrades a car it should have more performance and all 3 cars you have chosen have these, however none can rip your lips off like a fully modded 996 TT.

Hi All -
I posted this in another forum but wanted to get your thoughts also. I currently have a 2002 996 C2 and am thinking of moving on to somthing else. I had several cars on my short list, but I'm most interested in the 996TT, 997 Carrera S and the 993TT. Of these the 993TT is what excites me most - mostly the style. I have a feeling that if I get one of the other others it might be a little "ordinary" in comparison and in some ways not too different from my current car. My main concern with the 993TT are the potential maintance costs. Any advice on this?
Also, if anyone has been in a similar situation and has written off the 996TT and 997C2S to get the 993TT, let me know. I understand a lot of this is pretty subjective, but would still like to hear your thoughts on your decision process.
Thanks!

If you can find a good 993TT without corrosion or engine issues, it will reward you. For 400HP, it is amazingly quick, feels quick, and I find a piece of cake to drive. One of my colleagues (I'm a physician) is more of an air-cooled Porschenut than I, he owns a 1987 Targa, and on his first ride in my 993TT, he got sick to his stomach at 5,000rpm's in second gear from the unexpected pickup.
BTW, re. maintenance costs, well, as the saying goes: "If you have to ask...."

I want to chime in on the maintenance issues on 993TT versus 993 NA.... They are very similar. Whereas the 993TT might need its turbos rebuilt at about 75k miles (depending upon the cool downs) for about $1500 for the pair (stock), the SAI issues that seem to plague the NA cars are not a common issue on the TT. Everything else is pretty much the same. The 996TT and the 993TT are also roughly the same, with exception that all of the water cooled cars can have cracked radiator tank problems.
Bottom line... you CAN ask, and the answer is pretty sweet.
