Intrigued by your engine revs to 7800rpm ? can we see those power/torque curves ? If you post them up we can have some interesting chat ![]() Thanks for sharing the engine dyno pics, do you know how they cool the intercooler for the dyno runs ? do they blow air through it like in this set up: Some footage for you of my 993tt doing a 0-187mph - this is with 577PS

Jimmy knows way more about these than I do, but I never boot into the boost AT ALL if I have to fill up
with 91. I THINK the Thielert does not have knock sensors.

Re my motor, I will try to get some dyno scans for you. It has big Schrick cams, solid lifters, head work, larger valves, Carrillo rods, forged pistons, etc. The ITBs help up top too but hurt down low. The rev limiter was set at 8000rpm but I have lowered it since I hope to make it last longer than a typical "race" engine would. Last edited by Tuner1; 09-10-2009 at 07:13 PM. Reason: 1 |

The car is still 4WD and here are the engine details. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...g-details.html I appears I am 19 HP short of making the club.....

I think we can bend the rules to allow you in
![]() Nice specs. I wonder why RS went to solid cams and lifters? The trend I am starting to see is that these motors don't like to make much over maybe 500hp on 91 octane. So far everyone who has responded is using a mix of 91 and race gas or Euro 98 RON to make the big numbers. Am I correct? I guess the water cooled, multi valve head guys have us licked in this area

Tuner1, interesting topic: It seems that many of the higher HP car owners on here don't make claims of their HP as there seems to be so many variables in accessing the correct number.
I have roughly the same set up as you without the ITB. I am running K24-26 turbos and only use 100 octane as I rarely drive the car. I am also using the Clutchmasters pressure plate (thanks Jimmy) as the GT2 PP could not handle the torque and slipped. I see 1.3 + bar spiking at 1.5. Not sure what my HP ratings are. There are a couple guys on here that have Protomotive tuned 3.8 motors that are putting out some pretty huge HP numbers. They may want to chime in.

No, my engine was not built by Mode. Yes, I am running mechanical lifters with Schrick cams (in Ca. this is a problem). If I used my car as a daily driver I would also not want to run race gas all the time, but I only drive 500-1000 miles per year so it's no biggie. My clutch is pretty heavy for stop and go driving. The stock pressure plate gives you 2400lbs of clamping force while the Clutchmasters has 3500lbs.
I would also like to try some 60-130 mph runs. Here in SoCal it's not so easy without running the risk of some jail time

My Ruf Turbo R might "barely" qualify for your reduced entrance requirements, but I thought I'd post anyway. I am familiar with both Scott Mellor's Andial, and Scott Bradford's FVD-based 3.8. Both are absolute monsters, and are also beautiful to look at.
But let me defend my puny Ruf Turbo R for a moment. Prolly about 520HP with 100 octane blend, but I use mostly 91. The car runs GREAT and passes smog without any trickery. Hydraulic lifters and all. I love the mellowness of this package.

Me too Steve. When my car was converted at RUF Germany, the dyno sheet shows 520hp on 93 gas. Fortunately I can still run 93 gas here in TX.
My signature lists most of the mods.

Here is mine:
Protomotive build by John Gulino and Paul Faieta of Protosport in New Jersey-excellent professional shop, BTW. 3.8L Mahle P/C, twin plug ignition, GT2EVO cams, Pauter rods, MAF sensing on re-programmed 993TT OEM ECU, low and high boost settings for 93 (1.3 bar) and 100+ (1.45 bar) octane with Greddy Profec boost controller, Protomotive plumbing, including IC, Garrett GT3076R turbo's, 996GT2 clutch/Sachs PP/993RSR LWFW, BoschRSR dual fuel pumps, Brembo slotted front-993TT Big Red rear rotors/Pagid RS14 pads front and rear with 993RSR rear calipers, 996TT rims, H&R Clubsport suspension, engine dyno and road-tuned by John Gulino and Todd Knighton. I don't have dyno sheets, but power likely around 675HP on pump, 700+ on race fuel. On 100+ it walks away from my 996TSCab GT700 car, rev limit at 7,250 with peak power and torque around 6,500 and 5,500, not falling off up to 7,250. At Watkins Glen in my amateur hands on low boost, I easily hit 160mph below 7,000rpms in fifth gear on the back straight. This car definitely hauls a---. ![]()
