Default Hybrid turbo K16/24 or K16/16g

Have a leaky turbo charger. Have done some research here. Seem hybrid the way to go for replacement turbo.

I cant decided which hybrid to choose. K16/24 or k16/16g or it there any other option? What's the different between the two?

I read that EPU tuning is necessary for hybrid turbo replacement but EPU tuning may not be an option as there is no reliable tuner in my country. Possible to use hybrid without retuning the EPU?

My car is stock and fast enough for me. Only use it on the street once a while. No tracking. Dont mind bit more torque at low rpm.

Inputs and suggestion greatly appreciate.

Stick with stock if you are not going to change the tune.

cost is only "a little" more if you go with the k16/16gs, which is what I did when my turbos went. Feel pretty much stock except on boost (when it pulls a lot stronger ). Did not do the k24 due to feedback I got on turbo lag. Re: ECU, I sent mine over to Todd and he returned it and sent it back.

I have an old thread on my turbos a while back, talk to Todd (Protomotive) or Kevin (UMW).

Default 16/16 G

I've Tuned several 993tt's, The 16/16G From Protomotive is by Far the best bang for your buck, yes you need him to tune the ECU, He can tune a 96, Not just Great added hp & Torque, but Great driveability, IMO.

My understanding is a 16G Mitsubishi Impeller wheel is actually bigger than a K24's impeller. The lag introduced by a K24 doesn't happen with a hybrid turbo as the hot side is still a K16. A K24 non-hybrid can add some lag. That's the beauty of the hybrid logic. quick spool-up but a bit larger on the inducer side to deliver more air to the engine than a stock k16. With all that said really no point in changing if your not going to use ECU tuning to take advantage of the additional air.

Old post but I will add my comments anyway.

The 16G is a better match for the K16 than the K24 compressor is. Just because it's larger does not mean it will lag more. Sometimes just the opposite occurs. It all depends on shaft torque available. Just thing of which fan will blow more air. A small one or a large one? The problem occurs when there is not enough power to drive the big one. Over simplification but you get the idea.

Bottom line is I have driven both and the K16/16G is the clear winner all around.
