Default Selling my '97tt—what's a fair asking price??

Well, it's time. I love the car every time I drive it, but it hasn't been that often lately. I'm also due for foot surgery and retirement and this is part of getting my ducks in a row...

The car has around 42k. I bought it 12 years ago with 8k on it from a gentleman in Sonoma who bought it from a dealer owner. Arctic Silver over black. Never tracked or bent.

Here is what I’ve added over the years: PSS9s, sway bar from Gert, stainless peddles, oiler cooler fan switch, sport exhaust from Rennlister (can’t recall his name—all he does is*remove some of the muffler material from the stock mufflers and reweld. I have the invoice at work), Euro horn, extra Maxflow straight pipes (from prior owner—I*don’t use them as they are very loud), 6 CD player.

Recent new tires (Bridgestone S-02A), service, AC charge and windshield (pitted over the years).*

This was my dream car and I’ve looked after it—meticulously well maintained. The car is straight and beautiful in and out.*

I have all of the books and records.

I'd be happy to email photos.

I've advertised my business on the back cover of the Orange County Pando for many years—my avatar photo (middle car)...

When I got mine a few years ago, it seemed it was $100k - mileage for clean driven examples. This summer it seems $175k - mileage.

GLWS, looks to be a clean example. I think the muffles are from FD Motorsports (Darin) if north of SF.

[QUOTE=Kein_Ersatz;11616619]When I got mine a few years ago, it seemed it was $100k - mileage for clean driven examples. This summer it seems $175k - mileage.

IF that new equation is true I'd sell my 58K metallic black/black '97 TT all day long for $117K (and the car even has hardback sport seats and Fister D exhaust upgrade)

Thanks for the input. It's surprising how these cars have appreciated in value. My mechanic believes this will continue—he has a friend who deals with car sales in China and evidently their import laws on used cars are changing which will create added demand and higher prices. We'll see, but in the mean time all of your suggestions above look good to me!

I bought this car 12 years ago with 8k on it from a gentleman in Sonoma who bought it from a dealer owner. Arctic Silver over black. Never tracked & no accidents.

Here is what I’ve added over the years: PSS9s, sway bar from Gert, stainless peddles, oiler cooler fan switch, sport exhaust from Rennlister (can’t recall his name—all he does is*remove some of the muffler material from the stock mufflers and reweld. I have the invoice with the records), Euro horn, extra Maxflow straight pipes (from prior owner—I*don’t use them as they are very loud).

Recent new tires (Bridgestone S-02A), service, AC charge and windshield (pitted over the years).

This was my dream car and I’ve looked after it. The car is beautiful in and out. Always garaged and driven less than a handful of times in the rain.

I have all of the books and records.

I will email photos upon request.

Very fair price, you should see plenty of interested buyers. Good luck!

Very fair price. You will get a lot of interest at the level. Posting pictures in the ad would help, though. Nothing like pictures to stir up the positive emotions of potential buyers!!

Thanks again for the input/suggestions. I have a firm offer on the car. Whew, makes me wonder about my pricing strategy! I'll post a followup should things not work out.

Bob, I'm pleased to say that the buyer is a Rennlist member. And of course, i'm having sellers remorse with the car is still in my garage!

Lol, I was going to add that you might want to raise the price another $10k since you might not be given enough time to "say goodbye" and sellers remorse will kick in.
