go all in and fix the car and keep it..........or fix ONLY what it needs and sell. much depends on your budget and attraction to the car........most depends on when it is taken apart and you know what is has to have....that is the risk of a running car vs a trailer basket case . Remember it has 90k on it

This OP guy must have a lot of extra time on his hands! Poking fun of serious situations and basically making fun of people who are looking for help and advice. I've met so many cool guys on here, since I purchased my 996 a few months ago, many of them have messaged me privately with their phone number and to call them up with any questions, because they can relate to the situation I'm in, having doubts and fears about what is going on with their car. That's a pretty cool thing and I really appreciate it!!.....I never realized how Porsche owners really are like a family, and will lend a hand as best they can.

As much as OP is annoying and wasting people's time, I also feel bad for him and his insecurities, that lead him to creating his own persona on here, maintaining the image of smart/funny/wise/helpful guy as B3Freak, and also creating a character called OP that is dopey, polite, and aloof. His satisfaction in creating these representations of himself is most likely a far cry from the actual person he is. I hope he can realize how his actions were not very respectful to his so-called "friends" on here, and that we are not here for his amusement.

So what did you decide? Did you get the used motor for $4500.

Yes, I'm getting the used motor. Should be done in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to driving again. I'm missing it.

I wonder what you could recoup some if you part out of engine or sell it as is. New head is 3000, if your head is good maybe sell it for 1k? If crank is good its probably worth good money.

First confirm what is actually cracked on your motor.

Congrats on the great deal on the engine! I'm glad you will be back on the road soon.

As for B3, I'm terribly disappointed but not surprised in the least.

besides the head, is there anything on the engine that's worth anything? Would it be worthwhile for me to keep it and store it somewhere (I'd have to pay for a storage unit), or could i scrap it for $100, or do anything else with it? I don't want to leave it with mechanic if there's any value in it. Even if it's $50 at the scrapyard, i'd definitely keep it.

It’s a 3.4. I’m also located in Rhode Island if that helps at all.
