Default I think I found the best X Pipe on the Market

Like many, when I bought my 996 I immediately switched out my stock mufflers for some very manly ebay muffler bypass pipes. They sounded great on idle & at WOT.. and they shook my kitchen cabinets when idling inside the garage. Pretty good bang for the buck in that regard and the drone was about as bad as I've ever heard

So, back on the stock mufflers went, this time with the Gundo Mod and paired with M&M's Catless X Pipe and damn does it sound heavenly. I haven't seen anyone put this catless x on their 996 and for what it's listed at on FVD's website (mid 400 range) it's almost a no brainer to try this Xpipe vs what others can wind up costing. Any cheaper option seems to be custom route but the quality of M&M's products is always top notch so you know what you're getting. The butt dyno says I've kept the same top-end power gain I had with the bypass pipes, and I feel like I have more torque around 4k having the muffler back on the car vs just cats. Plus the M96 just sings with an x-pipe.. who doesn't like that?

Onto the video! Enjoy 4 minutes of bliss

Sounds awesome. Obviously you have a check engine light to contend with now right?

How do you get around emissions?

Thanks!

Sounds great. I thought you were going to hit the other end of the parking lot before braking LOL.

Very nice sound! Uber manly, despite the FSU license plate, lol

I had a Fabspeed cat bypass on the GT3 for about 7 hours. It sounded amazing but despite indy's claims that because he is the smartest guy on the planet there'd be zero problems, the scary warning (I didn't even get a wimpy CEL - this was "Drive to shop Schnell!!!!!") inspired me to go back to stock setup.

Update: CEL came on last night while on a 45 minute drive after some highway on-ramp fun. Time for O2 extensions

Did you end up getting the mini cats that FVD have on their site? Curious if you needed a 90 degree elbow or anything to get them fitted.

Thanks for posting this BTW. I know there are a fair number of people running x-pipes here now, but very few have posted about their experiences or videos of actual driving.

Nope, still running no cats. I got the CEL code cleared from my local indy and it hasn't come on in 2k miles. If it comes back, I'll probably just re-clear the code and carry on

Sorry I meant the o2 sensor extenders to help prevent CEL. Some extenders also have a tiny integrated cat to further prevent a CEL. But clearing it each time with an OBDii scanner works too
