How to Hardwire an iPod?
I upgraded my '99 996's radio to the CDR-220 to gain an Aux port and am now looking for elegant ways to hardwire an iPod Touch. I don't fiddle with the music controls much, so it's okay if the device sits in the compartment box, but I can also see mounting it (e.g., magnet mount) to the console somewhere. The point is to replace the dangling 12v charging cable and Aux audio cable for something a bit more integrated - maybe a USB port and audio connector added to the compartment box? Maybe pair up the Aux audio cable that comes from behind the console with a USB/charging cable? Any experience or novel ideas here?
Any advice is appreciated.

There are lots of choices. I had a cable from Becker Sound that also kept the iPod charged. It wasn't cheap, arount $120. After a few years, one of the channels would intermittently cut out, probably due to a broken wire in the cable. I replaced it with a Blu Tooth adapter from iSimple and I'm very happy with it. Good for hands free calling on my iPhone too.

I had the adapter cable from Becker when I owned my 996. It was routed to the glove box, and I simply plugged the iPod in there. It worked very well.
