18x11 +40 rear wheel on a NB 996
Just wanted to see if anyone's even attempted this rear wheel spec on a narrow body 996/997. I know this is a typical WB and/or Cayman/Boxster setup but I'd love to see any pictures or hear any experiences of anyone who has tried this on their NB.
Currently I'm lowered with H&R Sports and have about -1.5 degree of camber in the rear (and could prob get close to -2.0). Stock, non-rolled quarters which I'm not against rolling either.
Thanks!

I doubt it will work. I have about a 1.5" drop and 2.5* of camber and i can bearly clear a 40mm offset on a 19x10 with a 285 tire. I also have the lip rolled tight. Your 11" rim is a half inch wider. I know mines a 19 and a half inch taller but your 18 will still drop into the wheel well the same. My other set of rims r a hollow twist thats 18x11 and 63 off with 295s. These fit perfect and im sure i can go to a 315 if i wanted too.

I run a 19x11 +50 no problem at all. Going to get +5mm more spacer and don't anticipate any issue with +45. As long as you have the right size tires I think it's possible with the right camber. This is assuming you have a 2002+ with the factory pre-rolled fenders and additional clearance that 2002+ offers.

I run an 19x11.5 et 51 its very aggressive I have -1.5 camber and a fender roll on a 1999. Its does not rub but that's with a stretched 285/30/19. Your setup using an online calculator is 5mm out from mine. I would advise against it unless you want to run -2 camber and no larger than a 275 tire.

At ET40 you will need the car at a pretty tall ride height to clear, or fender flares. I have run 11's and 12's (both with 315 tires) on the rear at ET63 and they barely clear the rolled fenders with my car at cup car ride height.

Thanks for all the replies, guys! I run a 285/30-18 tire at the moment.. I imagined +40mm with 18x11 would a long shot but there's an incredible deal on a set of wheels I've been looking at and wanted to see if I can make it work lol..
I have a 99 so I'd have to at minimum roll the rears which I'm not opposed to but it would add cost and complexity to the whole thing.
@nckwrnr your experience gives me hope!

on my 99 Carrera2 NB I'm running C4s widebody twists, 18x11 +45 in the rear, 275/40/18 tires. The rear lips are rolled just for peace of mind, and I'm on H&R Sports springs. no issues. I'm also using a 7mm spacer on the front 18x8 with 245/40/18.

@Projekt EPiK thanks for the pics! I have the same setup as yours except i'd be running 285s and that extra 5mm.. but maybe it could work, do you know your camber settings?

I have a set of narrow body GT3 wheels. The rears are 18x11 ET63. I bought NT01s in 315/30/18. One of the other knowledgeable rennlisters said I will need 5 mm spacers for my 99. I currently have 275/35/18s mounted on 18x10 ET65 sport classic II and there is about 3/4 inch horizontal gap to the lip. I might have to roll the lips, but that would be ok with me.

De Jeeper, Nice sport technos in the pic. My factory sport design wheels are tired after 15 years and I just bought a brand new set of sport technos direct from Porsche with all new lugs and large crest center caps. Just waiting on the new pirelli rubber. If you ask most tire places for 295/30/18 and they look confused since that size is being phased out by many manufacturers. Michelin and Pirelli still offer that size but others don't any more.

Great tire for daily driver and DE combination.
