No, he used a bearing assembled by BOCA Bearings in Florida and it was a ceramic hybrid bearing. I used the dual row version of it and when I noticed that it was coming apart, I PM's him to let the new owner of his car (he already sold the car by then) know that there is a good chance the single row he used will fail too. He ignored my PM and shortly after the new owner posted the infamous thread that the bearing failed.

These bearings are just for me to play with.
Although I have had some that are interested in learning more about engine internals.
I’ve even shown the M96 engine on a stand to a few.
Today I’m going to R&R an AC compressor for a student. Actually HE is going to do the work while I instruct and supervise.
I’ve only taken the online M96/M97 and 9A1 classes from Jake. I hope to make the next M96/97 hands on class.

I only teach basic Automotive 101 classes. R&R of an IMSB is WAY beyond my students.

I can give basic instructions: (I've not done a 996 yet)
- Recover refrigerant with ac AC Recovery machine,
- Remove the AC lines.
- Remove the serpentine belt.
- Remove any bolts holding the compressor.
- Install new compressor.
- Install new lines (Replace o-rings as necessary)
- install new serpentine belt
- Using the recovery machine, place a vacuum on the system
- Wait 30 minutes to make certain that vacuum holds.
- Recharge system to specified amount.
It helps that I have a recovery machine and scales at home.
Nissan book time was 3.5 hours.
It took us 2.5 hours.
