Default Many are using the wrong oil brand/weight

After reading the diatribes about which brand and what weight oil for the 99 Carrera, I called my mechanic who told me 0-40 Total oil is what they use, but the repair invoices that the customer gets including me say Mobil One, I had enough.
I placed a call to Porsche North America for the correct answer, which I already knew, just wanted some credible confirmation.
The correct oil is sold by dealers, and others, called Porsche Classic Oil, 5W-50 for the climate I am in here in Riverside.
Tell your friends, not your enemies. I have no further comment.

Yeah, everybody knows except the service manager at the Porsche dealer they did a 3 way call with today. He was pushing Mobil One, until today".

Thanks and welcome. I would recommend that after using this (or whatever) oil, you have a few oil analyses performed. You can then use the results to further your education of oil properties and the truly best oil for your application. I too used the dealer recommended oil until getting the results back.

I totally changed my position on so called A40 Oil Recommendations by Porsche and the M96 engine. I no longer bow to the holy sticker under the deck lid!

Agree. That was all just marketing agreements. Think of how much profits that sticker brought to Mobil 1. I fell victim to that sticker, too.

You all know I found a secret source for my rides special fluids.

A40 is a minimum standard and my source far exceeds these low marks.

As soon as the patent is issued I am told that the "developer" will make this public.

Until then you have to know a guy that knows a guy with the secret handshake to get in the club.Sorry, I cant reveal the source.

Until then, use the most expensive fluids you can afford.

If you look behind the licensing of the "Porsche A40 Approval", then it's clearly the accountant.

I'm also on some Landcruiser forums, and what I love is that oil is never a topic.

For those who like the diametric opposite, there is bobistheoilguy, com

Run whatever oil makes you happy.

Peace, out.
