Default Am I in trouble strange cold oil pressure??

So I'm a bit worried , I start my car from cold and instead of the oil pressure gauge shooting up to like 4.5 bar the needle at first doesn't move for a couple of seconds then when it does it's only going up to 3 , seems to hold at this until engine warms up then drops down to around 1.25 when warm where it always has been , the only good thing is I'm thinking if there was a serious problem , wouldn't the hot oil pressure be low aswel.
What makes me worry is my flywheel has gone noisy and started to chatter and I'm just worried if the vibration has put wear on the rear main bearing , hope not , full strip down job if so !

Any work done to the car recently, or basic maintenance? May also be the sending unit on its way out.

Default My 2cents

The "chattering" flywheel sounds like the dual mass flywheel is badly worn. Pull transmission to check. But that has nothing to do with your weird oil pressure.

Flywheel and oil pressure not likely related.

For the oil pressure issue I would agree on the sending unit.

Not while I've owned the car, has been noisy for a while, but only at idle, just recently seems a little worse and I can now feel some vibration I've got a new one to go in but been trying to get the time to do the work on it just hope I've not got another rebuild job on aswel if the vibration has done the rear main bearing , that's what I meant by the oil pressure worry, I know they are not directly related obviously but if you look at it that way , she's probably due oil and filter change so might cut the filter and pull the pan at the same time , do you think if I've got a main on the way out I'll see much debris?

Dual mass failure is fairly common on older cars,,
Similar to harmonic balancer failure the bond gives up from age..

Your might be due for a full "physical" pan off, and bore scope , oil change,
basically get it all checked over.. ?

This happened to me last year. It took about 5 seconds for the oil pressure guage to move. When it did move, it went to 4 bar, not 5 bar. Replacing the sensor did not solve the issue. Turned out there was excess sealant in the oil pan and it was clogging the oil tubes. I dropped the oil pan and cleaned out any debris that was blocking the screens in the oil pickup tubes. That solved my issue.

Me too the oe sending units are not very accurate, I would install a new one, test & then change oil.
