My engine is in line for an FSI rebuild so I won't be installing the UAOS for a while but I'm in for the connector upgrade!
I still owe you an email!

People who are experienced in AOS replacement can do the install in 3.5 - 4 hrs...(even faster if they are really good).

That's what I was expecting - thanks! I'll probably bank 5 hours to be on the safe side but it seems like something you can do in a day. The biggest PITA seems to be getting to the last bolts of the intake manifold. I'll be putting this on the 40th anniversary car with the all aluminum manifold but I assume it's all the same.

I helped a friend install the UAOS on his 99 996. We could not get to that last bolt on the intake from the outside (left side) of the motor. We pulled the MAF and large hoses that go from the left to the right on the intake manifold and then managed to get a 1/4 drive socket and ratchet from the inside of the intake. Even with that we could manage only a 1/4 to 1/2 a turn. Once that was off we taped up the holes in case something dropped in there until ready to reinstall the intake. And definitely put the last one or two bolts in the intake before you mount it into position. That way you don't have to feel around for the bolt holes.

Mine is a 996.2 with a manual transmission.
If I recall correctly it took me about 6 hours total over 5 days.
That included replacing my oil filler tube and idler/tensioner bearings and the coolant flange.
I took my time working for 30-60 minutes most nights after work and before dinner, except for the last day.
Next time it will probably take closer to 4 hours for just the UAOS.

I think most Indy's are charging around 4hrs labor to do the install, seems reasonable..

I just spotted this on LN Engineering’s website: https://lnengineering.com/products/p...86-models.html
Has anyone tried one?
