1998 996 C2 body damage
Hi there,
So I finally got a 996 a some months ago, which I absolutely love.
Few days ago I had it parked on a quiet street outside my house and some #### somehow hit it.
What do you reckon about this?
I spoke to a workshop who wanted to charge me £750 to repaint the fender and also blend the new paint in over the door.
Another guy I spoke to, who could come to my house and fix the damage, only charged £345.
Does it sounds reasonable to you guys?

That is a bummer....I would have a paintless dent guy pop that out and then wet sand (1000 grit or higher) then coumpont and polish and see what paint damage you have left. My guess is you will find very little actual paint damage.

Seems like good pricing. I would probably get a good fender form a yard and have it painted rather then have one with body filler.

Quote from Pedro in another Porsche forum:
"The 1999 and 2000 996 shares 86% of it's parts from the doors forward with the Boxster ('97-'04).
The bumper skins although different are a perfect drop-in.
The seats, console, dash, radio, A/C, radiators, etc., etc are exactly the same.
The front brakes are larger, but also fit the Boxster.
Almost anything forward of the doors, including the doors, fenders, hood, head lights, steering wheel, will fit the Boxster.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro."

Its hard to tell from pics but some of it looks like it can be clayed, sanded and polished out. General rule of thumb is if the scratches catch your fingernail it is beyond polishing work. For repaint, dent removal and blending that doesn't seem like a bad price if the work is good. I've found that most time I end up at the body shop its between $500-$1000.
