Default oil filter removal wrench

Anybody got a link to a tool from a common auto parts store (Napa, Advance, etc) for a wrench that will fit the filter housing? I'm in the middle of an oil change and can't remove the housing with my hands.

The one I'm looking at is: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Just want to make sure it's the correct size.

Thanks.

I took my new oil filter to AutoZone and got the oil filter socket that fit. Simple enough. Most auto parts stores have them.

I bought 3 different sizes from Autozone and ended up with this one:

The inner diameter across is 3.125” across.

Default FCP Euro

I bought mine from FCP Euro along with a bundle of service parts. Best pricing with quick free delivery over $50 for the mid-atlantic and NE US as far as I know.

74mm. So the one in my OP should be good.

I think it has to have the correct number of 'flutes' too. (14?)

For both the stock canister, the spin on I changed to and pretty much every car I change oil on... I just use a filter strap wrench.

Not what you asked for but I always use a strap wrench and they work like a freaking charm. Bonus is this is the wrench with 101 uses.

This 74mm Motivx is definitely the way to go. Far better than the Assenmacher filter sockets. I have AST sockets for other vehicles, and I far prever the Motivx.

I had the right tool but the wrong car. I have a Napa Gold spin-on filter on the 996 which takes a 74mm 15 flute socket, the Motivx 74mm/14 is for the e30 filter. I still need to find a 15 flute version for the Napa Gold/Wix.

Just FYI for future readers - this $6 one from Advance worked like a charm.

Thanks for the heads up. We don't have Advance out here that I know of so I spent $2.50 extra to have Amazon deliver a 15 flute version.
