Default Headlight mod, who has done it?

I'm not a fan of the orange parts on the headlights, and saw these covers as a good change in looks: https://varielautomotive.com/collect...oversunpainted

The washers are easy to remove, but is there any problem with leaving the opening after taking out the washer lens? Looks like a straight drop out the bottom of the car, but does anybody have knowledge from doing this? Also, of course, is the fit as good as they say?

I spent a significant time to prepare and paint the same type of cover bought on Ebay for less, and installed them with 3M double face tape.
They looked great but...I took them off a couple months later as they make me looking like I was ashamed of my 996 and wanted it to be a 997.
by the way, if you take them off too late, you may have to sand and clearcoat your front lights due to the tape damages

Do you have photos of what you installed? Was the fit perfect? I'm not trying to wannabe a 997, though, just think that there's something different about doing something new.

I have a pair of headlight covers that I purchased but I'm now on the fence on just going the LED headlight upgrade route...

The fit was OK as you can see:

Wouldn't your covers fit wrong on my '99 because of the curve in mine?

they look fine, and even have the cutout for the washers. Do you remember the manufacturer or seller so I can see whether they make them for '99 models with the rounded light cans?

I can't find the exact same ones on Ebay but this one looks very similar($79.00)

that's a heck of a price difference for what should be the same item. I wonder if the China ones have as tight of a fit, or whether the $395 ones are somehow way better?

The more expensive ones were designed and manufactured by a fellow 996 Forum member. I know he put a lot of effort into getting them perfect. I would be more interested in them if they didn't have the opening for the turn signals, which I would relocate. I'm not a wanna be 997 owner, but after ten years of ownership I like to change things up here and there. Plus it would be reversible.

If it's something on the nose of our cars, it has to look good, no question. I sure wish that he'd included holes for the fogs, though, like the ones that JB001 got.

Hi

I usually strongly dislike these sort of covers, but actually the ebay ones are not half bad.

Funny, but I would like to keep the foglight and delete the washer, so whatever has so far been suggested doesn't offer that option. Anybody else have one?
