IMS Solution Installation Cost

For another reference point, I was just quoted $12,100 to replace clutch and install the IMS solution kit... I don't think that seems anywhere near the ballpark right? They want ~$4500 for the pre-inspection alone.

Also would note they did not include RMS in this.

They're one of the only shops around so it's tough. PCA suggests them and everything.

I think the bearings changed over sometime during ‘05. It’s possible that the insanely high quote is to drop the engine and split the crankcase to replace the bearing. The funny this is, that if they knew it was the large bearing, they should also know that it doesn’t really need to be replaced… just remove the outer grease seal…

I wouldn't hold that in much regard, PCA lists a shop near me as a recommended mechanic, but from talking to the shop, they've never worked on a Porsche, have no experience with them at all.

LN list authorized shops on its website.
I have never seen PCA recommeded shops other than body shops.
But each region have local and not so local indies that know what they are doing. Best bet is to join your local PCA region and start going out to events and asking what shops to go to. Guaranteed you will get a list of names. If you live out in the middle of nowhere, I would rather drive the car or tow it to a good shop that is farther away than hand it over to a local shop that may or may not know what they are doing or are charging ridiculous rates.
