996 Used key fob code reading and adapting??
Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a 2003 996 carrera. The previous owner had changed the immo/central locking module due to water intrusion. He had a locksmith adapt new immo pills to the module however the key fobs are another story. I am curious if anyone else has figured out a way to read remote fob ID numbers in order to write them into the module before I take the car to the dealer for new fobs??

Try ecudoctors in florida before going to the dealer. They may be able to help for a lot less then the dealer.

I already spoke with them. They cannot pair used keys. They can transfer data from one module to the other. That is not my problem unfortunatley, but thank you for trying to help.

You can buy new key heads w/ electronics online and take them to the dealer to pair with the ECU. I had to do this after both of the keys for my '99 gave up the ghost.
My dealer was cool and only charged me half an hour labor to program both keys. You can move the cut (metal) part of the key to the new fob yourself - it's pretty self-explanatory once you pop the fob halves apart.
Call the service writer at your dealership ahead of time and see if he'll cut you a deal.

One cannot program pair used keys without the RFID pill code in the keys. If you don't have that, forget about it, it can't be done. Porsche security. And, you only get 5 chances to program the key security codes in the immobilizer, otherwise you have to buy new keys with the codes and a new immobilizer. $$$$$ Only a Porsche dealer can do this.

There is a user (smuko) claiming they can recover the code from fobs, however I've not come across a thread where someone went through with it and reported back success. Search "smuko@brizzard.net site:rennlist.com" in google to find the other threads.

I had it done at the ECU doctor.
i remember contacting Sumko, but i cant remember why i didn't go thru with him. i believe he is located in Europe, and the ECU doctor is 5 minutes drive from my office.
you will still need to get the IPAS codes from the dealership, to get it done.

If you had original module and keys. Its easy to do. Without original module to pull data from it's not easy. I found one place in Cali that can do it. But they are asking just as much as a new key costs so to me that's no different than buying new keys and paring them to the module. Not really worth the down time in my opinion.

For anyone interested, my friend sent me a copy of all the emails and all the exchanges between him and smuko. Looks like this guy is just out to scam people out of money.
