Last Day
Today is pretty somber
Being in my mid 60s, I have bought and sold a lot of cars, relatively speaking, not being a dealer. 29 actually, just counted, lol
It's about 10:30 est, in a couple hours, Horseless Carriage is going to show up with a premium service single car enclosed transport to pick up my Carrera Aero.
I have spent the last year doing every possible in maintenance and care I could think of to prepare for an eventual sale at the end of this year, but the timeline was moved up.
I pulled it out of the garage this morning for the last time.
I wiped it down again, checked all the compartments. I put a Porsche paper carpet guard on driver's side so when the new owner receives it, there won't be soiling on the carpets.
I have spent the morning, running the vacuum in the house, doing the dishes, an extra cleaning of the smoker on the patio.
Even my Chocolate Lab knows something is not just right today.
This is going to be a long couple hours waiting for transport.
As adults, we know that cars are inanimate objects, to be purchased, used, cared for, enjoyed and be sold to the next.
But I have to admit, this one is different.
I will update on departure.

Quick! You still have time to take it for one last rip! I won't tell if you won't! Hopefully it goes to a good home and kudos for taking pride in providing a nice experience for the new owner. Little details like the cover matter.

Since I started buying 'fun' cars I've only parted with one. It felt very strange watching another person get in and drive it away. And I hadn't done anywhere near the amount of work you did to your beauty! I can feel your pain, but only sort of.

This car is going to a great new owner
He has owned three Porsche 911 race teams, competed in IMSA, GT3 and GTO, along with 24 hours and 12 hour endurance races
I was in a weird, flattered frame of mind, that he choose my 996 to buy, when he could have choose many others.

Good luck with everything Dave. Enjoyed your 996 common sense immensely on RL. Come back to see us every once in a while.

Sad day indeed! At least you’re comfortable with the new owner (ie: you feel like the car will be well cared for). I sold my house last year after building it and living there for 21 years (raising kids etc.)… weird feeling for sure!

Common folk being out spoken to the ruling class.
Wonder where it is all going.
Could be a thriller right here on RL 996
