No question we wont ever see a $1.2 million price tag on one of our 996s. But the 996 PCA Clubsport project has and will continue to create more awareness, interest and ultimately more demand for these great cars. Glad the PCA did the project.

Stupid or not, it’s a one off/one of a kind built by Porsche and fully documented - the value is there, and will no doubt appreciate as a collector piece. The shame is that it probably won’t get driven much…😩

As for driving a $1.2 mil car like that, why bother? You could add a pristine, low mileage GT3 to your garage and get the same performance for 1/10th the price and 1/10th the financial risk.
I don't know the buyer, but it seems that it just gives you bragging rights at a cocktail party with respect to the amount of disposable income you have.
You are right, this car will probably be put under glass and occasionally brought out to events for display. Then in a few years it will be sold or traded for something else "collectable".
Hey, if anyone wants something "collectible" I might consider selling my GT3. It's autographed by race car driver Derick Bell. Let's start the bidding at $1,000,000 and see where that goes.

The most shocking thing to me is the 10% buyer's premium.
