1998 996 with no airbag in doors
#16
In Europe, side airbags only became mandatory in 2009, although crash regulations from 1998 made it very hard to pass the tests without them.
So for cars sold in 1997 and 1998 side airbags were optional.
I would be actually curious to weigh those early models, without speakers and without airbags in the door

That is nice of you to say. It was advertised with little interest in my country because of the green leather seats. The car was mint except for the strange seat color, but when I went to see it in person and test drive it, I was sold. The green color is a darker shade of green in real life than in the picture and I didn't think it looked that bad. And now I love it, it makes it a bit more unique and with the fried eggs headlights it is to me a bit of a time capsule of late 90ies estetics. It is not the right car for someone looking for a 911 that looks like the newer 911s, but it is truly a 90ies car
And since it is an early one, it has the less plastic fantastic, and the grey sparkly/more scratch restistant kind of interior. This isn't the best picture to show it, but it is what I have at the moment.

Yes , I do....It is done at the "appropriate Porsche Service Interval" and involves inspecting the air bags ,seat belts, for tampering or for foreign objects attached or sick-ons on the air bags < you'd be supersized at what people will stick to the passenger air bags on the dash that can become projectiles into an eye socket, like Thermometers, Compasses, clip board holders ect.... includes hooking up the PIWIS and test for faults in the air-bag system, seat belts, cash sensors, and if a Cabriolet includes opening the top and removing the roll bar covers and using the PIWIS Drive LInks, "eject" the pop-up roll bars to make sure that they work and then resetting them..
Yes they do, I think they started in the 997 models IIRC..
