I don’t know about the performance differences and it’s probably not relevant for 99% of us. The Getty unit is probably the same as mine but a tad shorter. I’m looking at getting some decals made for us.

Here’s a few similar ones from the original ad of the car. I can get you fresh, closer ones tomorrow if these aren’t good enough

Yeah my comment on performance was somewhat tongue in cheek . I have to think the duck is at least as good as the pop up spoiler and possibly better . Generally speaking I rarely go over 100 mph I mostly rip through the mountains at a slower pace . So your 99 % comment is probably very accurate .

My goal for my car is to somewhat mimmick the RS model of the 70's meets modern GT3 . So front spoiler lip , GT3 rocker covers and ducktail spoiler . The rear diffuser I added is purely for looks . To my eye it completes the rear end .

My 02 Boxster S has a GT3 front bumper , GT3 rockers and a mini ducktail . I actually started a conversation with Joe Toth years ago on the 986 forum that turned into a group buy for his then new design ducktail spoiler . So my twins have similar visual impact .

Ask and you shall receive 😋 . She's a 2002 S with a FSI 3.6 Stage II + built in 2015 . Black top has a glass rear window I also have a color matching hardtop . She has an OEM GT3 front bumper with spoiler lip , GT3 aftermarket rocker covers and the Joe Toth ducktail . I also have the GT3tek diffuser . Has bi-xenon headlights. Back in 2015 it put down 282 hp at the wheels which is strong enough to make this light chassis fly .

Lightweight flywheel with race balance she revs quickly and is smooth . Black interior with coco mats . She is not the hottest or the fastest out there but tons of fun to whip through our mountain roads .

Thanks . The Boxster/Cayman chassis is very good and rewarding to drive . As is the 996 . They make great team mates 😁

OK, because I'm interested in buying the ducktail I'm going to ask what might be a dumb question... We had some heavy rains here last year and I'm wondering, it looks like rain water would pool and dump right into the fan and engine compartment (or when you wash the car) on that ducktail slope. I'm sure that's accounted for in the design, but someone tell me how/where that water is diverted to when it drops in those top vents? Thanks.

Go look at your stock engine cover. It has a bunch of holes in it too.

Water won't pool up in the ducktail because there are holes in it for the water to run through. Onto the engine. Into the intake snorkel. Just like the stocker.

Water won’t puddle in the airbox if it’s OEM and the water just falls through the engine bay. There’s really nowhere for water to puddle other than the engine mount area. I’m sure the OP’s set up is similar but this what the overhead looks like without the mesh installed.
