Default I've joined the duck side 😋

Hey guys as I transform my 99 C4 into the vision I have the next step took place today . I installed a ducktail that replaced the original pop up spoiler . Purchased from a company in Florida via eBay .

I dry fit the duck last week and it fit perfect . So dropped it off to the painter and picked up this morning . Install was easy and I am very happy with the look . To my eye it compliments the narrow body well .

I have already installed a front spoiler so the last touch will be GT3 rockers which I have but not fitted yet . The duck even allows the 3rd brake light to be seen . I am very happy with the results .

Thanks guys . TCN while I love my ducktail I will never say it's as nice as yours . The one you have is a piece of art . But mine fit my vision and budget . They can coexist nicely 😁

Nice! Who is your painter? What did that charge to paint this piece?

I'm over in the Athens area.

Oh, I noticed the rear bumper skin is not OEM... what is that? Link? Thanks!

Did you install the mesh into the openings? The previous owner skipped that and I really want and need to get this done. Just not sure how to secure mesh to fiberglass

Painter is RWP Precision Paint and Body in Clermont . Owners name is Robert Parks and he's a Porsche guy . He has painted my hood/front bumper/rear diffuser and now the duck . All done well . He charged $330.00 to paint the duck but he gave me a discount from $378.00 . Probably because I am a repeat customer and pay cash .

The rear bumper skin is stock but has an aftermarket rear diffuser added . Company is Better Bodies out of CA. they used to be called GT3tek .

Man the only thing that you’d miss out on is the weight reduction but the visual aspect of yours is amazing. The ducktail on our car looks so good and glad to see others, like you, are adopting the look. The overall execution is great and your car is black so it’s more subtle.

One thing I’d like to see or compare at some point is the angle and how far the Ducktail sticks out between the many versions and brands out there. The openings on yours are smaller but more swept which is pretty cool to me.

I epoxied zip tie tabs on the underside of the opening and looped a zip tie through. It worked pretty well but mine is vented so there was space to get my hands in there.

The mesh inserts came installed with the duck . Looks like they took metal wire and epoxied to the inside of the tail . The inserts slide over the wires and then you bend the wires over to hold the inserts in place . Simple and it works .

My style of duck blends/flows great in black . Probably the same for all dark colors . White or light colors the seam where the tail sits in the opening might be more visible . I am just guessing . Mine almost looks one piece unless you really look .

As you stated there are enough variations out there it would be cool to compare . My pic straight on from the rear you can't see the 3rd brake light . But that's because I crouched down to take the pic . Anything bigger than a Miata you CAN see the light . I lucked out on that . This is a good discussion 👍

That’s an important fact to bring up. I still think mine sticks out too far.

Wow those side x side pics really show the difference between the two . So far we are only talking about visual differences . How about performance differences ? Yikes this may become an oil thread 😋
