Unlatch Frunk for Long Storage?
I store my 996 for a long period in the condominium garage, usually 2 months during the off-season (summer) in Florida, When I return the battery is dead and I have to find a portable battery/charger to energize the fuse box contacts to open the frunk and begin the battery recharging process. As a work-around, could I unlatch the frunk before I leave and get right to the battery recharging when I get back to FL? Is there a technical downside to keeping the frunk unlocked? /X3

I do that and pull the frunk light bulb out.. I also place a small block of wood to prevent accidental closure. I also disconnect the neg batt cable. You could also get a battery maintainer and wire the pigtail and place it by the wipers to recharge.

U know the fronk bulb and all the service lights stay in when the truck is unlached. They time out and go off so pulling the bulb is not needed.
Just rought the emergancy cable to a good spot and leave the trunk locked. Even better remove or disco the bat so it last longer and u dont discharge it.

Reroute the frunk release cable to behind one of the front marker lights. If the battery is dead, pop the light, pull the release, good to go.

2 months storage, thats not much for a good battery thats disconnected. An agm can go a year. A wet cell should go at least a few months.
Get a new good agm battery, disconnect the negative cable, leave trunk unlatched.
Come back to FL, connect battery neg cable, start it up. Done. No charging will be needed.
My suggestion is much healthier for a full battery life than letting battery stay connected and run dead from normal parasitic drain.

Put a battery tender on that battery. The frunk will be slightly ajar (the cord) but the light goes out.

I ran the wiring for my battery tender through the grommet and into the frunk then behind the carpet down to another grommet to route it near the bumper. It was a pain getting the wiring from around the radiator shroud but the connector is accessible from outside the vehicle with the frunk closed. I can tuck it in to behind the left front grille when not plugged in. No need to open the frunk for battery trickle charging.

In my garage with no power, I disconnect the battery and keep the frunk ajar. Typically sits like this for ~5 months during the Wisconsin winter and then starts right up when I reconnect the battery.

C-Tek, C-Tek, C-Tek, get a version of this charger with a pigtail you can leave connected to the battery, i do this for anything longer than an couple nights, if i were to leave the car for an extended period of time, i would consider disconnecting the negative cable and tuck it out of the way, i would also prep for mices... i put glue traps some bait in the garage, and also dryer sheets inside the car and frunk...

I keep mine in a secure garage for the winter. Frunk and engine hood unlatched. A quality battery maintainer(not C-Tek) with a cigarette lighter adapter. Run under closed passenger door(there is a notch in the door weatherstripping for the cord). Been working fine since 2014.

+1 vote for CTEK. I had one go bad and all it did was not work. (They sent me a replacement.) Another one gave me 3 extra years on a $300 battery. I trust them.
