Default Best practices for Sending oil back to FCP Euro

Recently did my first oil replacement from FCP Euro and will need to send back the original oil. I’ve filled up the original containers with the old oil but was wondering how you guys ship it. Do you put the oil containers in trash bags in case they leak? Tape up the tops?

Ill be sending a set of spark plugs and coils in the same box (it’s how I ordered it all in the first place). I have all the original boxes and packing materials.

thanks
M

You've gone through two sets of coils?

I've never bothered to send it back but when I get oil or detailing supplies most of them are tapped on the lids and in plastic bags with zip ties around the top.

They warranty it and give you store credit.

That's incredible. I wouldn't have ever thought motor oil was included in that program.

I change my oil out every 6 months so it seemed very attractive. I’ll let you know how it goes in terms of shipping

I drive a lot for work so I change my bmw x1 oil/filter every 4-5 weeks. The fcp program works great. I save box they shipped in and re use it. Goshippo finds me cheapest shipping.

Just my opinion, but seems like abusing a great return policy to return used consumables like oil. I couldn't do it.

Not judging anyone just sharing my 2cents opinion.

And guess if vendors didn't like it they wouldn't allow it. Suppose/guess not a lot of people do return old oil so they don't lose out overall, as the mark up on oil is small so just 1 return would mean a loss for the vendor... At least on that 1 purchase... My guess is if it was being done a lot it would be unsustainable for the vendors and policy would change..?

Can you not ship used oil UPS Ground ?

I did a little digging and could find that new and used oil is not considered a flammable liquid, and the only restrictions I could find seems to indicate that large oil transporter vehicles are the only thing that have a need to be regulated ??

And no, I wont be returning any used oil,if I think it has any value/life left, I'll use it in my lawn mower..lol

But they advertise it? They list what they won't take back so I think it's unfair to call it abuse when they say they will take it back. I am banking on the fact the majority of people won't return something like oil. It builds a lot of good will and I bet its grown their business a lot over the years. They are one of the first places I check for replacement parts and I've never returned anything other than parts I ordered and did not use..

Yup, see your point, it probably is a loss leader like you say. Saying 'abusing' might have been a little strong.
didn't know they advertise sending back used motor oil.

IMO, the hassle and absurdity of pouring used oil back into jugs, cleaning everything up, boxing it up securely and leak free, and mailing it,
is ridiculous to me, and seems the mony savings isn't worth my time.

But thats just me and my personal opinion, again not judging anyone...

I think the MSDS will tell you how to ship? Been a long time since I’ve done any of that.
